EL1 Finance Officer

- Baseline clearance essentialOur fed gov client is actively seeking an EL1 Finance Officer to join their team.
- Managing project finances, including branch and group reporting.
- Leading policy development for project cost recovery for regulatory services.
- Contributing to project outcomes as a multi-disciplinary team member.
- Undertaking research and consulting internally and with other government departments on modern cost recovery arrangements.
- Providing clear financial analysis and drafting accurate, timely, and consistent financial advice in the areas of administrative and regulatory law to support decision-making.
- Developing detailed processes for estimating and explaining cost recovery processes.
- Completing assigned tasks associated with reform projects to enable delivery of projects in line with Government objectives and timeframes.
- Assisting in the conduct of information, training, and briefing sessions, and developing training materials for clients and staff to contribute to the work of the Department.
- 5–10 years of experience in financial management.
- Experience with government budgetary and financial frameworks, including advising on the Commonwealth financial management framework within the guidelines of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013, and other complex legislation.
- Some experience with the government charging framework and cost recovery matters is highly desirable.
- Knowledge and understanding of financial policies and processes to identify emerging issues, analyze risks, and recommend appropriate management controls or mitigation strategies.
- Experience in developing and presenting written material of a financial and business nature, ensuring clarity and relevance to the intended audience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as TechnologyOne and Aurion.
- Preferred: Chartered Accountant/Certified Practicing Accountant.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate effectively and interact with team members.
- Ability to manage a workload in an environment of competing priorities and tight timeframes.
- Commitment to maintaining up-to-date financial knowledge and conveying financial concepts and information accurately.
