Our client, a world leading designer and manufacturer of high-quality CNC tool and cutter grinders is looking for a Electrical Design Engineer to join their Melbourne office for a 6 month contract.

About the Role:
Our client is a world leader in serving the global market with innovative products and solutions such as designing and manufacturing high quality CNC tool and cutter grinders.
This role will be responsible for the electrical, PLC and integration design and development of quality products using sound engineering judgement, to meet the communicated company/department goals.
This is to be completed in conjunction with techniques and systems to implement and support engineering functions that achieve innovative ideas and direction, quality workflows and globally applied technical direction whilst creating a collaborative, cohesive and supportive environment for Design Engineering personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and updated Bills of Materials (BOM) in a timely manner for control system and electrical components
- Ensure traceability of ordered, used, and shipped parts by creating accurate Specification Sheets and using diligent BOM management
- Electrical design of machine control and automation equipment for cost effectiveness, ease of manufacture and optimum reliability, including (but not limited to);
- Component selection
- Electrical Design and Drafting (EPLAN)
- BOM management
- Testing/Troubleshooting
- Development, commissioning and maintenance of PLC and low-level software to optimise machine function and special projects, including (but not limited to);
- PLC (text based, similar to C) as well as C# (.NET)
- GIT for version/source control of both
- Build systems (TeamCity/Jenkins) to deploy changes
- Perform module based tests, integration tests, and full system tests
- Prepare and execute Test Plans (CVP&R and DVP&R) documenting results and feeding back into the development process
- Participate in Risk Assessments as part of CE Compliance activities
- Prepare the detailed time estimation and financial analyses in support of projects
- Prepare engineering Requirements documents and design documentation
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Demonstrated technical competency in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems or Mechatronic Engineering, including, but not limited to;
- Electrical design & drafting
- Electrical diagnostics
- PLC Programming
- Software Development in C, C# or C++
- Control theory
- Safety Function Design
- Demonstrated comprehension of technical/engineering and design principles, and relevant technologies and their application to machine tool design
- Demonstrated skills in EPLAN & AutoCAD or other Electrical CAD systems
- Demonstrated experience in 3S Codesys
- Demonstrated experience in electrical drafting to standards
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills for root cause analysis and problem solving
- Preferred experience in working with robots at integration and programming level.
- Proven ability to liaise and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders/suppliers
- Solid verbal and written communication that enables collaboration and execution
