About the Role:
As the Electrical Design Manager you will be overseeing the design review, compliance and regulatory aspects of large-scale renewable energy projects such solar farms, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
This position requires a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, coupled with expertise in battery technologies and energy storage systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design PV and BESS systems for ground mount sites up to 700MW.
- Conduct a range of activities including feasibility studies, design, site inspections, and commissioning, with a focus on renewable energy projects across New Zealand/Australia/South Pacific.
- Provide technical support to project management and site teams, ensuring successful project completion.
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies related to solar PV/BESS.
- Mentor junior engineers to fulfill their potential in solar/BESS design and engineering.
About You:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar.
- Have a minimum of 3 years' experience in the solar industry
- Competent with AutoCAD, SketchUp and/or PowerCad, MS Word, MS Excel, Adobe Acrobat.
- Competent with utilising design software such as PVsyst, Helioscope etc.
- CEC Accredited Designer for Solar and BESS.
- Strong and in-depth understanding of NZS/AS electrical and Solar PV installation standards (AS/NZS 3000, 3008, 4777.1, 5033, 5139)
- In-depth technical knowledge and understanding of a wide array of PV systems and their market applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with grid integration, power electronics, and control systems for renewable energy sources is highly desirable.
