As an Electrical Engineer specializing in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), you will play a critical role in the design, implementation, and optimization of BESS projects.
You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of battery systems, contributing to the advancement of renewable energy integration, grid stability, and energy management solutions.
This position requires a strong foundation in Electrical Engineering principles, coupled with expertise in battery technologies and Energy Storage Systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electrical systems for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), including battery sizing, selection, and integration into grid infrastructure.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess project requirements, develop technical specifications, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Perform detailed electrical analysis, simulation, and modelling to optimize BESS performance, efficiency, and reliability.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analysis to evaluate the economic viability of BESS projects and provide recommendations for optimization.
- Lead testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities to ensure proper functionality and performance of BESS installations.
- Provide technical support during project execution, including coordination with contractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in battery storage, renewable energy, and grid integration.
- Participate in research and development initiatives to enhance BESS capabilities, improve system efficiency, and address technical challenges.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the design, implementation, and operation of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or related electrical systems.
- Proficiency in electrical design software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, PSCAD) and simulation software (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink).
- Strong understanding of battery technologies, including lithium-ion, lead-acid, flow batteries, etc., and their applications in Energy Storage Systems.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and codes (e.g., IEEE, NEC, UL) governing BESS design, installation, and operation.
- Experience with grid integration, power electronics, and control systems for renewable energy sources is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex engineering projects on time and within budget.
- Professional certifications (e.g., PE license) and membership in relevant industry associations are a plus.
