Electrical Engineering Technician (Full Time 38-hour shift)

Annual Base Salary: AU$70k to $90K plus super and other benefits

About the Role:

Based in Pemulwuy NSW, you will work closely with electrical engineers to implement, test and maintain electrical systems and components. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the research, design and development process, troubleshooting issues, conducting tests, and ensuring the proper functioning of laser cutting machines used in commercial plants or laboratories using specific measuring tools and by applying electrical theory and related knowledge to test and modify developmental or operational electrical machinery and electrical control equipment and circuitry in industrial or commercial plants and laboratories. 

No registration is necessary since this position does not include any electrical wiring work.  

Qualifications

• With formal education of at least Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Minimum 2 years of work experience
• Hands-on experience with electrical systems, testing equipment and troubleshooting techniques
• Familiarity with electrical codes and safety standards; 
• Proficient in using CAD software for schematic design;

• Work closely with engineers and other technicians and cross-functional teams to identify, define, and solve developmental problems.
• Provide support during the implementation of electrical projects such asprepare drawings, plans or modify diagrams and write engineering specifications to clarify design details and functional criteria of electrical installations and circuitry using CAD software.
• Provide technical assistance and resolution when electrical or engineering problems are encountered before, during, and after construction.
• Evaluate engineering proposals, shop drawings and design comments for sound Electrical Engineering practice and conformance with established safety and design criteria and recommend approval or disapproval in compliance with specifications and regulations. 

Installation and Testing:

• Conduct tests on electrical systems to identify and resolve issues.
• Collaborate with engineers to perform experiments and collect data
• Document and report issues to assist in continuous improvement.
• Undertake electrical workshop functions such as installing assemblies for protection relays, metering and indicating devices  
•  Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions, and record results.

• Ensure the quality and reliability of electrical systems through testing and inspection. Participate in the development of quality control procedures.
• Conduct inspections for quality control and assurance programs, reporting findings and recommendations to conform with regulations and safety requirements

• Maintain accurate records of tests, repairs, and maintenance activities.
• Create and update technical documentation, including manuals and reports.
• Prepare contracts and initiate, review and coordinate modifications to contract specifications and plans throughout the construction process.
• Prepare project cost and work-time estimates.
