About the Role 

We are seeking a qualified Electrical Engineering Technician who will be responsible for: 

▪       Assisting in the preparation of detailed electrical installation plans, diagrams, and circuitry, especially for high-voltage infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with SA Power Networks (SAPN) standards and regulations.

▪       Providing support to electrical engineers and project managers in the layout and design of high-voltage systems, electrical breakdown services, and contracting projects. This involves collaboration on substations, switchgear, and cabling systems, focusing on risk management and safety protocols.

▪       Conducting comprehensive tests on electrical systems, including high voltage infrastructure, to diagnose faults, ensure operational efficiency, and maintain safety standards. This includes performing complex calculations, graphing results, and preparing detailed reports and tabulations.

▪       Maintaining accurate worksheets, records, and documentation associated with electrical testing, installation, and maintenance work, in compliance with AS4801 and ISO9001:2008 standards.

▪       Assisting with the storage, lifting, and transportation of electrical supplies and equipment. This includes unloading and verifying deliveries, fetching supplies as directed by the Line Manager, and ensuring the availability of necessary materials for projects.

▪       Engaging in general work to prepare and maintain sites, ensuring tidiness and safety. This includes clearing sites before installations, assisting with the installation and maintenance of electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, and ensuring all work areas are safe for staff and the public.

▪       Providing general assistance in the repair and maintenance of electrical systems, including identifying and diagnosing faults, testing electrical components, and replacing or repairing defective parts to ensure reliability and performance of electrical infrastructure and equipment.

▪       Ensuring all activities conform to the quality and WHS safety systems audited to the standards of AS4801 and ISO9001:2008. This includes following procedures approved by SA Power Networks for high-voltage work.

About you:

The minimum requirements for the position are:

▪       Minimum of two years of experience in this industry.

▪       Relevant Diploma or higher qualification in electrical/automation field or related qualification, or at least three years of relevant experience.

▪       Possesses analytical and problem-solving skills

▪       Be a team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
