Electrical Fitter

About Us:

Kempsey Shire Council (KSC) is located on the Mid North Coast of NSW, known for its genuine hospitality, pristine beaches, sub-tropical rainforests, mountain ranges, rock river gorges, sprawling farmland and peaceful villages.

We are a progressive, proactive and dynamic organisation, and we pride ourselves on the respectful and supportive workplace we have cultivated. With 360+ dedicated staff managing $1.3 billion worth of assets across many sites throughout the Shire, KSC work closely with our community to build an inspired, connected Macleay Valley.

Your New Role:

Are you a qualified Electrical Fitter looking for a new role with an award-winning organisation? Council currently has two vacancies available, presenting a fantastic opportunity for you to join our Electrical team in the Water and Sewer Department.

Reporting to the Team Leader Electrical, you’ll work across all of Council’s water and sewer assets for the benefit of the Kempsey Shire community.

Day-to-day, you’ll be installing, maintaining, repairing and upgrading electrical components and systems within water treatment plants, pumping stations, reservoirs and sewer networks (including PLC work) – ensuring all works are completed with a focus on Work Health & Safety procedures and in accordance with AS3000. In addition, you’ll perform regular inspections and testing of electrical equipment to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. You’ll use your prior experience and knowledge to troubleshoot any electrical issues and implement solutions to limit downtime, ensuring the continuous operation of Council’s water and sewer infrastructure.

For a full list of the Key Accountabilities of the role, please refer to the Position Description.

About You: The Successful Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will be able to bring the following:

  • Trade qualifications as an Electrical Fitter (Level 2 ASP highly desirable).
  • Proven previous work experience as an Electrical Fitter. Specific experience in water and sewer infrastructure preferred – but not essential. PLC experience is a must (Omron, Allen-Bradley and Schneider highly desirable).
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Work Health & Safety obligations as they relate to this position.
  • Proven ability to use a computer including mobile devices and software applications.
  • Physical capacity to work in an environment containing raw sewerage, confined spaces and heights.

Benefits of working for Kempsey Shire Council:

As the successful candidate, you’ll enjoy:

  • A permanent full-time position, 38 hours per week with a 9-day fortnight.
  • Weekly salary of $1,392.54 to $1,567.32 (plus 11% superannuation).
  • Access to a Council commuter use vehicle to travel to your different work locations across the Shire.
  • A working environment focussed on wellbeing, including access to flexible work arrangements, rostered days off, EAP access, social club, and health and wellbeing programs.
  • Fitness Passports for discounted access to a range of gym and pool facilities.
  • Career development and learning opportunities.
  • A supportive, collaborative working environment designed to help you grow!
  • A fantastic lifestyle and work life balance, on the beautiful Mid-North Coast.
