About the role
As the Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer you will be accountable for the successful delivery of required EI&C deliverables within our Engineering Services and Major Projects departments.
The core responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Ensuring all EI&C project and design deliverables are completed to an appropriate professional standards and meet applicable regulatory, engineering standards and internal specifications.
- Ensuring all EI&C deliverables are completed within the agreed schedule and within budget in a cost-effective manner.
- Ensuring all EI&C project works are implemented without any recordable injuries or environmental reportable events.
- Co-ordinating the development of EI&C project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
- Undertaking EI&C engineering and design as part of an internal design team.
- Undertaking engineering design and costing as required in support of feasibility studies.
- Preparation of cost estimates and capital requests.
- Development of EI&C documented standards and guidelines to ensure statutory, regulatory, and internal expectations are consistently met.
- Engaging and managing consultants as required and undertake review of their deliverables.
- Developing EI&C related scope of work documents and tender packages.
- Reviewing tenders and vendor supplied documentation and check technical aspects against project specific standards and specifications.
- Developing inspection, testing and verification plans and appropriate electrical, instrumentation and control commissioning documentation, as required.
- Ensuring installation and commissioning activities are carried out on-schedule an in accordance with design documentation and decisions.
- Managing and supervising electrical contractors' work schedules, cost, and quality of work during construction and commissioning.
The successful candidate
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can demonstrate:
- Formal qualifications in Electrical Engineering or similar from a recognised tertiary institution
- Membership of Engineers Australia or eligibility to become a member.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience as an engineer within the process manufacturing or similar industry.
- Advance level proficiency in MS Office suite
- Self‐motivation with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional time management and organisational skills
- Leadership skills and the ability to make decisions.
- The ability to assess, priorities and manage multiple activities/projects
- An in-depth understanding of HV and LV electrical power systems and process related instrumentation
- Proficiency in the specification and high-level design of DCS and PLC systems
- Experience in the use of electrical design software such as POWERCAD, EPLAN, and AUTOCAD
- Advanced project management skills
- They are a team player with the ability to communicate with people at all levels.
- An understanding, and ideally a demonstrable competency in Hazardous Area Electrical Design and Classification
- Familiarity with Australian and International Electrical Engineering standards
