THE OPPORTUNITY: 

Reporting to the Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor, the Electrical and Instrumental Leading Hand is responsible for assisting the Electrical Supervisor in an area of trade expertise with allocation and monitoring of daily activities of Technicians.  The role also involves coordinating trade teams and is responsible for work scheduling, implementing, and initiating work activities, that are passed on from the Supervisors or Superintendents.

This is a permanent position, with an 8/6;8/6;7/7 roster based at our Pilgangoora Operation.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure work performed by Electrical Trades supervised meets the requirements of the Electricity Act 1945, Electricity Regulations 1947, Electricity (Licensing) Regulations 1991, Mines Safety Inspection Act 1994 (MSIA) and the Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations 1995 (MSIR).
  • Manage the execution of maintenance plan via the daily allocation of resources to tasks.
  • Supervise and provide technical support the execution of maintenance and commissioning activities across the mine infrastructure, including the fixed processing plant, mine equipment and the mine accommodation camp.
  • Fault find control circuits, mechanical checks on electrical equipment failure identify and resolving problems, and assessing the potential impact on production, plant and equipment.
  • Manage the effect of unplanned work against the weekly schedule to ensure that tasks planned are completed within that week and not postponed.
  • Ensure that scheduled PM’s are completed as per the schedule and that the tasks are completed satisfactorily.
  • Ensure that work is completed in line with PLS permit to work and safe working procedures.
  • Ensure that work is completed with an attention to quality to ensure that tasks are completed correctly and minimise the risk of rework.
  • Ensure that direct reports complete the work order details satisfactorily by detailing the people, hours, spares and equipment required to complete the task and brief description of work completed.
  • Ensure that any further works identified during planned maintenance are communicated back to the Maintenance Planners for inclusion in future weekly schedules.
  • Manage daily activities in PRONTO including raising purchases orders, requisitioning stock, raising and closing work orders.
  • Participate in KPI tracking and improvement actions as identified by the Maintenance Superintendent
  • Assist the Maintenance Planners by actively participating in department maintenance planning processes.
  • Ensure that any requested plant change is authorized and completed through the PLS Plant Change Request Process.

ABOUT YOU:

  • WA ‘A’ Grade Electrical licence.
  • Cert IV Instrumentation Qualification.
  • HV Switching Operator Competency.
  • WA C class drivers’ licence.   
  • LV Rescue
  • Fixed Plant Electrical experience in a mining processing plant environment (minimum expectation of 5 years).
  • Knowledge of statutory safety requirements relevant to the processes.
  • Systematic planning skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
