We are looking for an Electrical Operations and Maintenance Technician to join our team at Yarnima Power Station in Newman, Western Australia. This role is working an 8 on 6 off roster both days and nights. The Yarnima Power Station is located in the Pilbara Region of Western Australia approximately 3km from the town of Newman. Installed output capacity is 198MW, with the output generated by three Siemens' SGT-800 Gas Turbines and two Siemens' SST-400 Steam Turbines. The three gas turbines are typically run on natural gas; when placed in combined cycle the steam supply for the steam turbines is created via Heat Recovery Steam Turbines (HRSGs) utilising waste heat from the gas turbines. Ancillaries to the plant include:
- Fuel Gas Pressure Reduction
- Water Treatment Plant
- Cooling Tower circuits for the Steam Turbines
- Control Room
- HV & LV Switch rooms

What you’ll do
- Proactively maintain a safe working environment and commitment to safety
- Assist in Plant start-ups and shutdowns where required.
- Perform routine, preventative, corrective maintenance.
- Effectively utilise provided systems, processes and resources to ensure that Worley and our client’s business objectives are achieved.
- Assist in fostering a culture of continuous improvement by identifying improvements in maintenance activities and processes.
- Conduct plant inspections and unit return to service walk downs.
- Assess risks and hazards involved in tasks and methods to manage hazards and prevent incidents and injury.
- Be a Team player with a positive attitude and effective communication skills.
- Western Australian “A” grade electrical worker’s licence
- Certificate IV in Electrical – Instrumentation
- High Voltage switching operations certificate
- Current “C” class drivers’ licence
- Exposure to safe systems of work, permits, isolations, JHA/SWMS etc.
- High level diagnostic and fault-finding capabilities
- Demonstrable knowledge and practical site HSE legislation and duty of care.
- Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas (EEHA)
- Licence to Perform High Risk Work – LF Forklift
- Licence to Perform High Risk Work – WP Elevated Work Platform
- Licence to perform high risk work – BA Boiler advanced
- Licence to perform high risk work – TO steam turbine operation
- Experience within Thermal Power Generation
- Experience working with Natural Gas
- Prior experience in Control Room operations; Siemens T3000 preferable.
