Our client is a global leader in naval design and sustainment capability. Their Australian team of engineers, naval architects and ILS specialists are working closely together to deliver the best solutions for the Royal Australian Navy.
Your responsibilities:
- Provide production and engineering support on site and remotely.
- Provide electrical engineering technical competence based on relevant experience and knowledge.
- Complete electrical and control systems design for naval ship systems, applying robust systems engineering processes.
- Undertake technical investigations and root cause analysis to develop innovative engineering solutions.
- Deliver technical reports, documentation and engineering designs according to the client and customer standards.
- Produce designs pack drawings in 2D using CAD software.
- Work effectively within the Melbourne Electrical and Controls division and the broader engineering team to engage with different engineering disciplines in the development of new naval ship system designs.
- Plan and coordinate assigned engineering projects from concept through to delivery, including the development of project plans, schedule and engagement of internal and external stakeholders.
- Plan and administrate design coordination and review meetings with engineering project stakeholders and clients.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree - Engineering, or Technical officer.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in relevant engineering or marine environment working in a systems engineering role.
- Experience in the design of electrical and control systems.
- Experience with electrical and control systems on a naval ship platform, including with medium voltage power design and analysis up to 440VAC. (highly desirable).
- Experience in a technical and industrial defence environment (highly desirable).
- Knowledge of 2D CAD (AutoCAD/MicroStation) to produce design information.
- Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision-making skills.
- Competent in the understanding of, and development of, engineering documentation and engineering drawings.
Desirable:
- Demonstrated knowledge of Defence related industry.
- Experience in naval/marine engineering.
- Ability to read and understand electrical single line diagrams and cabling plans.
- High level of skill in Standard Computing Packages (MS Office, etc.).
- Ability to understand and apply relevant Australian Standards, Classification Society and IMO requirements.
- Capacity to provide technical assessment based on engineering calculations.
- Competence in technical writing and structured engineering reports.
