We are seeking a meticulous and technically proficient Technical Writer with an electrical background to join our client who are a key player in the utilities sector of WA. This is a 6 month fixed term contract that has the possibility of permanency.As a Technical Writer, you will play a crucial role in documenting procedures related to commissioning, decommissioning, replacement, fault finding, and compliance within their power network operations. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all technical documentation is clear, comprehensive, and aligns with safety standards and regulatory requirements.Responsibilities:
- Research, gather information, and collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand procedures for commissioning, decommissioning, replacement, and fault finding in electrical systems
- Write clear and detailed technical procedures, manuals, and documentation that are accessible to various stakeholders including technicians, engineers, and regulatory bodies
- Ensure all documentation meets safety standards, compliance regulations, and company policies
- Review and update existing technical documentation as necessary to reflect changes in procedures, equipment, or regulations.
- Work closely with engineering teams to understand technical specifications and translate complex technical information into user-friendly documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, and compliance to gather information and validate documentation accuracy
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Proven experience as a Technical Writer in the electrical engineering sector, preferably within power networks or utilities
- Solid understanding of electrical systems, components, and infrastructure related to commissioning, decommissioning, and fault finding
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and concise documentation
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documenting technical procedures and specifications
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory requirements within the electrical industry
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
