Spectrum Power Services specialise in delivering electrical services to the Mobile, TV radio, NBN, & Government radio networks. Spectrum Power also provides electrical maintenance and services to Orica an industrial facility in the Hunter.

Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Electrical/Communication Technician to join our team in Newcastle, NSW. The ideal candidate will have a high level of WHS understanding and prioritise safety. The applicant must have previous industrial and communication electrical maintenance experience and be comfortable working remotely. The applicant must also be willing to be available to be on an after hours on call roster.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide electrical maintenance services to the Mobile, TV radio, NBN, Government radio networks and Chemical and Industrial sites.
  • Support mobile carriers, radio networks, NBN infrastructure and tv radio transmission during power outages with mobile generators.
  • Investigate and rectify alarms on industrial and communication equipment.
  • Understanding of process and control, PLC, and Instrumentation.
  • Refueling of onsite diesel generators, fault finding of controls 
  • Log on with NOC centres while working remotely and ensure alarms have been cleared.
  • Conduct electrical maintenance and small industrial projects at an ammonium nitrate facility, earth testing, motor testing, heat trace testing, RCD testing, test tagging, lighting inspections, UPS & battery inspections.
  • Communicate with clients and submit job details using email and mobile applications.
  • Be able to read and interpret electrical drawings and manufactures specifications, diagnose a fault record the details of the fault and communicate to client, organise spare parts, return and replace parts and confirm equipment is operational. complete a detailed service report detailing cause of the fault the solution and the work completed, provide before and after photos.
  • Work independently and be comfortable working remotely, ability to complete some tasks or reporting from home.
  • Ensure that all work is completed to a high standard in na timely manner and in accordance with safety procedures and client specifications.
  • Complete Permits, take 5s, SWMS
  • Previous experience with diesel generators ATS and controls will be highly favourable

Requirements:

NSW Electrical Licence

NSW Qualified Supervisor Electrical Licence

NSW Drivers Licence

NSW White Card

LV/CPR release and rescue

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as an Electrical Technician.
  • Knowledge of the electrical industry, including electrical codes and regulations.
  • Previous experience working in industrial and telecommunication environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
  • Previous experience working with Diesel/ Petrol Generators
  • Previous experience completing scheduled electrical maintenance tasks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and be comfortable working remotely.
  • Ability to meet client KPIs while working safely
  • Ability to drive a 4WD vehicle off-road and navigate maps, while being comfortable towing
  • Ability to be apart of a 24/7 on call roster and complete works after-hours.
  • Willingness to undergo company training.
