We have a unique opportunity for a skilled electrical Hardware Engineer with experience in electronics.
What the role will involve:
- Design, simulation and testing of Electrical/Electronic Hardware parts and products (power, serial and ethernet communications, microprocessor and general digital circuits, analogue circuits)
- Design, simulation and testing of AC and DC power systems (suitable architecture, power consumption power dissipation) for RF systems such as satellite terminals
- Design of electrical cables for AC/DC power, communication and control
- Design for controlling, powering and selection of electromechanical devices such as DC motors
- System level EMI / EMC design including design guidelines and cables
- PCB schematic and layout using Altium
- Work with RF and mechanical engineers to achieve design objectives
- Create accurate BOMs and provide quality documentation for manufacture and testing of products and systems
- Design test fixtures
- Provide support to Manufacturing and Production Engineering team with the introduction of new products as well as existing products
- Assist the programs team with technical issues related to HW engineering
Core skills and competencies we are looking for:
- Knowledge in PCB design and layout using Altium
- Aptitude to develop systems from concept through specification to production unsupervised
- Ability to plan and estimate project schedules
- Problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing
- Knowledge or familiarity with EMC/EMI standards (commercial or military)
- Knowledge or familiarity with electromechanical devices such as DC motors and rotary encoders
- Understanding of Single phase and 3 phase AC power systems
- Experience with Digital and analogue electronics
Experience/Qualifications required:
- Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or similar
- 3-5 years of experience in the design of electronic systems
- AC/DC power systems experience will be highly regarded
- Possession of, or the ability to qualify for, an Australian defence security clearance (baseline minimum, NV1 preferred)
