- Fortescue's Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.
The purpose of the High Voltage Electrician role is to manage the HV power supply to 9400E excavator for mining operations in conjunction with the mining operation cable handling team. Suitable candidates will require experience and technical knowledge of HV electrical infrastructure and switching programs. They will interact with the mining teams to help ensure an efficient and well delivered operation of the 9400E excavator with minimal disruption mining performance and have a good understanding of HV distribution networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Report to HV Electrical Supervisor, is responsible for energizing/deenergizing HV power supply to 9400E excavator and ensuring all relevant statutory testing and inspections are carryout on all cabling for the excavator
- Working alongside the mining operation cable handling team to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment operating in and around the HV power supply to the excavator
- Ensuring that all electrical High Voltage maintenance activities are undertaken in a safe and coordinated manner, in compliance with site standards and procedures and the relevant Australian Standards and WA Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations, making sure that all work is conducted to a high standard.
- Completion of all electrical work orders as required including the recording of work completed on the relevant work order, together with defects found and any remedial work that is required to rectify any outstanding faults.
- Ensure that daily work completed is reflected in work orders and time confirmations in SAP
- Creation of notification and work orders for all unplanned/breakdown work that is conducted outside of plan in the current week
- Accountable for ensuring the statutory recording of HV electrical installations and other electrical work in the electrical logbook as required.
- Encourage compliance to Zero Harm principles daily within the team
- Assisting team with keeping all SWI's are up to date, have a high standard of safety awareness and input into JHA's and take control cards
- All BMS obligations and actions are completed within allotted time frame
- Scoping of work required for upcoming plans including estimation of resource requirements, consulting with suppliers and OEMs for ordering of all the necessary parts and materials etc.
- Lead by the FMG values and drive efficiency change
- Electrical grade A license
- High Voltage Switching certificate.
- A minimum 3 years as an HV electrician
- At minimum 5 years in the mining industry
- Previous HV/LV distribution experience
- Extensive knowledge of HV operations infrastructure and fault finding.
- Good knowledge of HV/LV switching systems
