About the Opportunity
As an Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) aboard the RSV Nuyina, you will be a key player in ensuring the electrical systems and equipment support the vessel’s scientific and deck operations. Working under the guidance of the Chief Engineer and closely with the ASRV Operations team, you will manage electrical maintenance for systems critical to the mission’s success. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting engineering change tasks and assisting with onboard operations under the direction of shore-based engineering management.
- Managing the electrical maintenance and availability of equipment including watercraft, life-saving appliances, and science deployment systems.
- Proactively engaging with stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of all electrical systems related to science and deck operations.
- Participating in the management of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) for science and deck, including maintaining stock levels and ordering spares.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
- Certified ETO under Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers
- (STCW) III/6
- Right to work in Australia and on an Australia flagged vessel
- AMSA-issued Certificate of Competency or Certificate of Recognition as ETO
- Security Awareness Training
- Extensive experience working on commercial of naval ships
- AMSA Certificate of medical fitness
- Qualified electrical practitioner (Electrician) with an Australian A Grade Electrical Licence (Desired)
- Dynamic Positioning Maintenance Training Certificate (Desired)
This is a position of trust and responsibility and to support this we will conduct a thorough probity assessment as an essential selection component for this role.
You must have a Permanent Resident of Australia and be willing to undergo an AAD Polar Medical Examination.
We have an agreement in principle for a new EA covering this role. The rates in the new agreement will be significantly higher than in the current agreement and will apply to your role once the new agreement is approved.
