Electronics Engineer | Hardware + Firmware

We are seeking an experienced electrical engineer to become part of our team, specialising in PCB design and firmware development. 

Our company, Signal Data Systems, creates time-based irrigation, lighting, and smart-city control and automation systems for the Australian market.

This role will see the successful applicant take ideas from conception to market and is best suited to a confident engineer who is comfortable working independently.

Full-time preferred but part-time accepted. Applicant must be from greater Perth area. 

Tasks & responsibilities

• Designing modern PCB's (often including cellular/ethernet/WiFi connectivity)
• Writing embedded firmware in C/C++ including functions and and communication protocol
• Working independently on hardware & firmware designs
• Working closely with an IoT software engineer to connect devices to our servers

Qualifications & experience

• Proficient with Altium Designer and/or Autodesk EAGLE
• Knowledge of ESP32 / ESP32-S3 microcontrollers (ideal)
• Knowledge of Microchip microcontrollers (ideal)
• Proficient with common electronic communication protocols (Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth, Serial)
• Proficient on implementation of IoT protocols (MQTT / SignalR etc)
• Understanding of I²C communications
• Understanding on of utilising PWM for control
