Established in 1985, Technical Workshops has been an electronics service provider for nearly 40 years. Currently based in South Yarra Melbourne, the company primarily specialises in professional audio, display and IT products. From digital audio consoles, to large format simulation projectors, our day-to-day service business can cover a wide range of products. In addition to this work, we have ongoing contracts with government and defence for specific projects. We also distribute a range of spare parts for various manufacturers.
About the role
We are currently seeking an Electronics technician, or “service person” to assist in various workshop-based repair and service activities (pro audio, projectors, computer-based products) and become part of our small and friendly team.
While supervision and specific training will be provided, the actual role within the workshop will be dependent on the successful applicant's previous experience and the amount of supervision he or she requires. This role is ideally suited to applicants with a service / repair background and preferably an amount of customer service experience. The applicant may have relevant industry experience in the service repair of audio, display or computer equipment or they may have a relevant track record outside these disciplines. Age is not a criterion for this position.
A formal qualification (or the near completion of one) may be an advantage, but is not mandatory to be successful.

Skills and experience
Experience in the following will be highly regarded.
- Service, repair, and testing of audio, display, or IT products (or a track record in some related endeavours).
- Fault-finding using manufacturer’s service manuals, or an in-house given set of procedures.
- A very good understanding of Windows-based software and IT protocols.
- Competent in the use of electronic test equipment including a multimeter and oscilloscope.
- Competent soldering techniques.
- Customer service face to face and over the phone.
Qualifications:
A recognised qualification in electronics (Cert III Trade Certificate, Diploma or Associate Diploma), or the near completion of one will be an advantage but is not a prerequisite for this position.
Other:
The successful applicant will require a current police check (paid for by the company if not currently held).
Applicants may also be required to complete an electronic reasoning test to be considered for this role.
