We are currently seeking outstanding casual ELICOS Teachers to join our dedicated team at our Melbourne CBD campus to deliver Primary School Preparation Programs.
This Role
Prepare and Deliver English language lessons for young learners, aged 8 – 12 years old. The position would be full-time casual, Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm. There is a potential to move into a permanent position with managerial duties including content development. This position would suit somebody who is a qualified Primary School teacher with an interest in improving and managing a program of English language instruction to young learners. The Primary School Preparation Program at IH works in partnership with a large number of private independent Primary Schools in the Melbourne area, preparing International students for the English language requirements needed to participate and succeed in an Australian Primary School.
In this role you will
- Prepare and deliver English language lessons for students for whom English is a second language, in line with the program’s syllabus and monthly outcomes.
- Provide ongoing assessment of a student’s progress through both summative and formative testing.
- Prepare, plan and keep detailed and up-to-date records of each lesson and session.
- Start and finish each lesson on time.
- Complete all the regulatory administration duties required by ESOL National Code of Practice, including attendance and program monitoring, and record keeping.
- Uphold duty of care protocols in dealing with under 12 students.
- Adopt a neat and cooperative approach to classroom and staffroom organisation and administration.
- Take work-related text messages within work hours, in and outside the staffroom.
- Comply with all policies and practices of the college.
- Other administrative and housekeeping duties as required by the Head Teachers, monitored by the DoS
What you'll need to succeed
- Recognised Bachelor’s Degree.
- Recognised and current TESOL Qualifications (e.g. CELTA)
- Must have a valid Working With Children Check
- Post Graduate Primary education qualifications.
- Experience teaching English to international students or students with a first language other than English.
- Experience teaching students aged under 12 years old.
- Modern teaching approach and ability to deliver effective and engaging lessons.
- Exceptional organisational skills.
- Strong relationship and leadership skills; able to interact across all levels of the business in a highly professional manner.
- Excellent customer service and strong people management skills.
- Strong ICT skills and willingness to grow professionally in this area.
