  • Full Time - Permanent
  • Salary $84,294 - $91,109 per annum + Superannuation
  • Five weeks annual leave

We have an exciting opportunity for an Emergency Management Officer to work within the City's highly effective Emergency Management Team where we have a strong focus to deliver on Emergency Management preparedness, planning and community resilience.

About the role

The City is seeking an experienced Emergency Management Officer, to develop, implement and evaluate a range of Emergency Management strategies and plans that improves the City's disaster resilience.   The successful appointee will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the Local Emergency Management Committee (LEMC) obligations,
  • Assist to plan and organise internal and external exercises,
  • Working with stakeholders to increase awareness and capacity for disaster response and recovery within the City,
  • Seeking to improve the City's disaster resilience,
  • Monitors and evaluates current and emerging issues that impact on disaster activities including mitigation and policy development,
  • Seeks and promotes alternative funding opportunities, ensuring effective use of the City's financial resources and maximising the City's capacity to deliver programs and activities.

 About you

As a collaborative member of the Emergency Management team, you must be adaptable and experienced, and be able to thrive working in a very busy and change driven organisation.   As such, you must be able to demonstrate through their CV and covering letter that they meet the following capabilities:

  1. Qualification in relevant discipline such as Emergency Management or relevant experience,
  2. Relevant experience in a similar role,
  3. Advanced customer service skills
  4. Experience in establishing strong and effective partnerships with community groups, service providers and other key stakeholders to develop responses to community issues and opportunities,
  5. Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and complete multiple tasks and projects within a dynamic environment that includes changing and competing priorities with tight timeframes,
  6. Intermediate communication and problem-solving skills, research and analysis skills, and negotiation and influencing skills.

You may be required to work occasional weekends and evenings which form part of the ordinary hours of work for this position (additional rates apply).
