AddressMount Gibson Iron Limited is an established independent Australian producer of premium quality direct shipping iron ore (DSO) with assets in the Kimberley and Mid-West regions of Western Australia.
Mount Gibson’s flagship operation is the Koolan Island mine, located approximately 140km north of Derby in the Buccaneer Archipelago in the Kimberley. The mine is Australia’s highest-grade producer of direct-shipping grade hematite, with an average Ore Reserve grade of 65.5% Fe.
About the role:
We are now seeking to employ an Emergency Services Coordinator at our Koolan Island Operation on 8/6 (12-hour day) roster from Perth, Broome or Derby.
Reporting directly to the Health & Safety Superintendent, the primary focus of this role is to ensure all Emergency Services activities are performed to suit operational needs in a safe, timely and efficient manner.
This is a dynamic role which will see you involved in an Emergency Services capacity in all aspects of the mine site, including Mining, Processing, Port, Workshop and Aerodrome.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Lead the response to emergency incidents on site, utilising the Emergency Response Team
- Plan and deliver ERT training on a weekly basis in line with the yearly plan
- Plan and deliver exercise emergency responses and evacuations in line with the yearly plan
- Ensure all relevant daily and weekly checks are completed in a timely manner
- Support the site Medic with injury or illness cases as required
- Organise nationally accredited training for the ERT as required
- Ensure Emergency Services systems, from planning and procedures through to equipment and utilisation, meet operational needs.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue
- Certificate IV in Healthcare/Pre-Hospital Care (minimum)
- Previous experience in a Coordinator role, or as an Emergency Services Officer
- Current “C” (mandatory) and “HR” (preferred) Class Western Australian Drivers Licence
- Certificate IV training and assessment (preferred)
- Collect Specimens for Drugs of Abuse testing (preferred)
- Recreational Skippers Ticket (preferred)
