About the role

This is an opportunity for you to make a positive change and work with People with a Disability to increase Work ready skills and best prepare for their Employment goals.  Working directly with the participants you will develop the Participant's Individual Employment Pathways Plan.  This will involve actively supporting their capacity building and work readiness skills in areas such as transport training, social & community skills, money management and more.  This is a permanent full time role working across Monday to Friday, in a variety of environments including schools, community centres, libraries, or wherever our Participants choose to develop their work readiness skills to achieve their employment aspirations.  These roles will suit support workers with a specific interest in being imaginative and proactive in removing the barriers facing people with disability in gaining employment. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the young person’s skills and capabilities across a range of domains

  • Work with the young person to develop their Individual Employment Support Plan

  • Deliver individual and tailored support to clients as per their Service Agreement and Individual Employment Support Plan.

  • Increase the client’s work readiness and aspirations through capacity building, skill acquisition, work experience and supported decision making.

  • Identify any other challenges that may be impacting on a client’s ability to aspire to or undertake work (such as health, mental health, allied health or housing instability)

Skills & Experience

  • Certificate IV in relevant Social & Community Services qualification.
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Demonstrated case management experience in working with young people with disability.
  • A professional and positive outlook about supporting people with disabilities and commitment to supporting and promoting the individual needs, skills, abilities and both personal and employment goals of people with disability.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing relationships and opportunities through community engagement and partnerships. Commitment to the values of dignity, respect, inclusion, empowerment, confidentiality and strengths-based practice.
  • Proficient ability in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of programs and data base systems (or quickly able to become competent in data base systems)
  • Demonstrated experience in managing competing priorities and to deliver high quality outcomes within agreed timeframes.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).

To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or hold a valid medical exemption certificate.  You will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status during the recruitment process.
