The role:
We are seeking motivated and suitably qualified Endorsed Enrolled Nurse Nurses to join the Northern Health's Inpatient Unit at Kilmore.
We are looking for ongoing part time.
The Endorsed Enrolled Nurse position is a fundamental role within the hospital, supporting the operations of the department. The role is responsible for ensuring the achievement of excellence in care delivery in line with policies & procedures, best practice and legislative requirements. The EEN is also responsible for ensuring positive patient outcomes are achieved in line with departmental and Hospital strategic objectives.
The EEN is a highly motivated nurse who is an excellent communicator and strives for best nursing practice. The EEN advocates for the rights of patients and is a role model for both professional and management behaviour.
Reporting to the Inpatient Services Unit Manager, the EEN role is responsible for efficient use of resources and supporting the management of the complex needs of our inpatient group to ensure that patients and their families receive optimal access to the appropriate multidisciplinary health team and support services within the community. The cohort of patients that the EEN is responsible include but are not exclusive too, Geriatric Evaluation Program Patients, Transitional Care package patients, post-surgical, subacute, medical, postnatal, paediatrics, neonatal and palliative care.
The EEN is accountable for the promotion of a positive organisational culture that supports the Inpatient Service Manager to communicate and implement organisational change.
The EEN is responsible for maintaining and driving a standard portfolio as delegated by the inpatient service manager and accountable for supporting the ANUM in maintaining a NSQHS standard.
The Unit:
The inpatient unit is comprised of 30 beds that provides care for a complex mix of inpatient healthcare services including; acute medical and surgical services (adult and paediatric), in-hospital palliative care services, a 10-bed geriatric evaluation and management (GEM) unit, a 2-bed transitional care program (TCP), postnatal beds, 2 labour rooms and a 2-bay pregnancy assessment unit.
The GEM unit is a collaborative service provided in partnership with Northern Health and the TCP program is currently coordinated by Goulburn Valley Health.
Admission to the inpatient unit occurs via TKDH’s urgent care centre, direct admissions via GP/VMO referral, elective surgical lists and via our partnership admission units.
TKDH currently provides elective surgical services 4-5 days a week performing in excess of 1500 cases per year. Specialities include obstetrics/gynaecology, general surgery, vascular surgery, orthopaedics, urology, ENT and endoscopy. The inpatient unit is supported by an EFT of 22 provided by a mix of registered midwives, registered nurses, Endorsed Enrolled Nurses and Enrolled Nurses. The inpatient service is subject to a mix of nurse patient ratios (midwifery, acute and subacute, palliative).
To be successful in this role you must have:
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
- Must have the ability to work all shifts, including night duty.
- Must have Registration with AHPRA
