About the role

The Carbon and Energy Lead is the driving force behind our emissions reductions and energy efficiency improvements. Reporting to the Energy and Carbon Manager, you will help drive the implementation of energy and carbon reduction inititaives and strategies and act as a true advisor to the wider business.
You will play a crucial role in providing and managing all reporting requirements including detailed energy and carbon analysis and reporting on Officeworks use to meet our reporting and regulatory standards. The role will see you evaluating energy usage and identifying energy conservation opportunities. Utilising your deep understanding and knowledge of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies, you will continue to build our building energy management systems.
This role not only sees you as an expert in your field but gives you great exposure across sustainability, human rights, circular economy and other facets of ESG, whilst working with your colleagues across the Wesfarmers Group.
As Carbon and Energy Lead, you will:
  • Prepare comprehensive reports (including internal reporting, NGERs, renewable energy reporting), measure & validate benefits from the implemented projects/initiatives and monitor ongoing performance
  • Conduct feasibility studies and prepare business case for implementation of energy saving initiatives to reduce cost and consumption
  • Provide technical management of energy projects, budget management, internal and client reporting and site visits
  • Develop analytical tools required to identify emissions reduction, optimisation opportunities or to report on energy performance
  • Identify, analyse and recommend improvements for building systems and operations and maintenance strategies, including HVAC, lighting, controls, and related processes/systems
About you
You are commercially savvy, with a strong background in carbon, energy and renewables and an analytical appetite with sound reporting capabilities. You have a passion for driving energy reductions and efficiency improvements and want to help us make bigger things happen for people and the planet. We believe in flexibility for our people, and work in a hybrid working arrangement with a great balance between the office and working from home. In addition, you will have:
  • 5 + years experience in a role managing energy and carbon strategies with a background in energy, renewables and/or electrical engineering
  • Previous experience in Measurement & Verification (M&V) of energy efficiency projects
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship building skills
  • Proven experience in project management delivery
  • High level of attention to detail and reporting experience. PowerBI a bonus
  • Exceptional ability to influence, negotiate and problem solve
