The Opportunity
We are seeking a talented Communications/Electronics Engineer to undertake engineering development and design, with a focus on RF communications and data link, including antennas; avionics; sensors; electronics; electrical systems and user interfaces on Uncrewed Aerial Systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform requirements analysis and definition in response to both internal and external customer needs.
- Develop product specifications and scope documents for internal and/or external design and procurement.
- Perform trade studies, develop system interface definitions, and prepare verification and acceptance plans for product development and enhancement.
- Design communications and electronics solutions in a project team environment.
- Plan and perform system integration, including laboratory and field test and evaluation.
- Design and construction of prototype and production components for validation and testing.
- Develop production, modification, repair, refurbishment, checkout, and maintenance instructions and advisories.
- Perform and document first article inspections and production acceptance testing.
- Perform configuration identification and control.
- Assist with technical project planning, estimating, execution, control and reporting.
- Support performance and recording of non-conforming product and material review.
Experience/Qualifications
Essential
- Engineering Degree in an electrical/electronics, avionics, or related discipline.
- Experience in the specification, design, analysis, manufacture, test and in-service support of communications products in aerospace or related industries.
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise with the application of RF communications systems analysis and design principles, electronics design principles, data and tools, in aerospace or related industries.
- Eligible for Australian Defence Security Clearance. Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements
Desirable
- Expertise in one or more of the following technology areas: antenna systems; EMI/EMC; RF amplifiers, filters and transmission lines; electrical loads analysis; voice and data communication systems, including software defined radios.
- Demonstrated experience with other engineering design, prototyping, drawing, analysis and test tools.
- Knowledge of engineering lifecycle, development methodologies, and rapid prototyping methodologies.
- Prior experience working in or closely with the Australian Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG).
- Prior experience with defence communications, uncrewed systems, tactical datalink systems and/or vehicle modification projects.
- Experience with DASR compliance, specifically, Part 21J, Part 145M and UAS.
- Experience in aerospace industry, particularly UAS.
