About Our Role

An exciting opportunity exists for the permanent full-time position of Engineering Projects Coordinator at our Ulverstone food manufacturing facility. Simplot Ulverstone has a proud history in the local community and its location on the banks of the Leven River makes it ideally close to the rich, fertile soils where our potatoes grow. We process around 300,000 tonnes of potatoes from 165 Tasmanian growers each year whilst employing over 450 people.

Site capabilities / products include fries (coated & uncoated + multiple cuts), sweet potato fries, potato gems, and hash browns whilst we have 8 automated packing lines. Our customers include the leading restaurant chains, major and independent supermarkets in addition to the food service industry.

Simplot has heavily invested in the future of our Ulverstone operations with major line & infrastructure upgrades, and with a further $7 million of projects in the pipeline, this is an exciting time to join the home of Australia's favourite foods.

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, in this diverse Mon-Fri role you will work closely with the wider Engineering team to coordinate a range of site based projects to enhance capabilities and performance.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting the Project Engineers in the development of project management documents such as project budgets, project schedules, scope statements and project plans
  • Execute project management administrative and bookkeeping tasks such as managing invoices, purchase orders and inventory reports, among other financial documents
  • Supervise the project procurement process
  • Meeting with project stakeholders to assess their needs and define project requirements, acceptance criteria and project timelines
  • Coordinate the allocation of project resources to ensure the project team has what is needed at the right time.
  • Assign tasks to team members and set expectations in terms of project milestones and deliverables.
  • Assuming the role of liaison between the project team and stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
  • Assist Project Managers to monitor project progress, team members’ performance and provide updates to project stakeholders
  • Schedule stakeholder meetings, document and generate reports
  • Foster cross-team collaboration to help project team members complete project tasks and produce deliverables
  • Responsible to deliver small projects end to end assigned by Project Engineers or Engineering Manager

About You


  • A 100% commitment to health & safety in the workplace
  • Possess a Bachelors degree in engineering, project management or a related field (trade qualification can also apply)
  • Project management certifications - Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) , Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar is preferred
  • Working knowledge of project management software
  • Intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Ability to liaise with a diverse demographic of stakeholders
  • Excellent problem solving and time management skills
  • Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical (incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening)
