Job description

We are looking for an Engineering Team Leader to join our fast growth mining technology company at our brand new Tonsley office in Adelaide. Please read and apply to join our team!
Welcome to Chrysos - Where Innovation Meets Mining Excellence
Here at Chrysos we combine science and software to create technology solutions that are changing the global mining industry; both from a productivity and environmental impact perspective.
Just like atoms and machines, we believe that everyone is different and how individuals come together is what makes us successful. Headquartered in Adelaide and with team members based in Australia, Europe, Africa and North America, Chrysos Corporation’s diverse team of scientists, engineers and industry specialists are coming together to build technologies to provide rapid, accurate and safe ore analysis for the global mining industry.
The company’s flagship technology, PhotonAssay, steps around centuries-old chemistry-based assay methods to deliver true ‘atom-counting’ analysis for the measurement of gold and other high-value metals. With successful global installations, Chrysos is taking PhotonAssay to customers around the world – Chrysos could take you to places that you might not have even imagined yet. There’s opportunity around every corner and the support to help you achieve your goals.
About The Role
The Engineering Team Leader leads the Adelaide-based Product Development Engineering Team. The team undertakes a wide range of engineering projects to support development of Chrysos’ products including PhotonAssayTM . Typical projects include integrated design of mechanical, electrical, and control-system components, and close interaction with Chrysos’ science, software, and IT teams.
The successful candidate will manage all aspects of the design, manufacture, and delivery of complex technologies, including supervision of the team’s engineers, engineering design and project management, and supervising local and international manufacturers and integrators
What You Will Do

  • Lead the Product Development Engineering Team in the delivery of new products, ensuring the growth of individual contributors within the team and the growth of the team as a unit.
  • Ensure that the Product Development Engineering Team’s capabilities grow to match the company’s expanding technology portfolio. Manage training and recruitment of team members as required.
  • Provide direction and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Efficiently manage workflows, project deliverables, and communications with internal partners.
  • Track project performance and manage risks using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.
  • Provide regular project status reporting and in-depth analysis when required.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the engineering domains utilised by the team including mechanical, electrical, control systems and production engineering. Sufficient understanding and experience with PhotonAssay related technologies to support technical decisions across engineering domains with input from others.
  • Work closely with key partners for the development of the next generation of PhotonAssay Max analysers.
  • Lead the resolution of complex multi-disciplinary technical problems.
  • Have an eye and voice for safety and contribute to ensuring a safe work environment for all. Demonstrated experience in including core safety and compliance considerations into new product development processes.
  • Contribute to the company strategy for new product development.
Essential
Who you are:
  • A tertiary qualification in engineering, preferably mechanical/mechatronic, electrical, automation or similar area, or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant experience in a product engineering or new product development role, with some experience in product management or engineering management position.
  • Demonstrated excellence in the design and manufacture of complex products and collaborating with supply chain partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to be an effective leader of engineers working in different disciplines, includes ones that differ from your own area of expertise.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of technical documentation and functional specifications.
  • Able and willing to travel both interstate and internationally (subject to Australian Government travel restrictions).
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated capability to work effectively within a global business and across diverse cultures.
Desirable
  • Retain a network of design partners, suppliers, and industry contacts within Australia.
  • Experience in the development, manufacturing and engineering of analytical equipment and instrumentation.
