Engineering Technical Officer

  • Full time, monthly RDO
  • Idyllic South West location
  • Salary from $78,000 per annum depending on skills and experience

Job Description

As an Engineering Technical Officer in our team you will apply your project management skills and experience to the planning, budgeting and scheduling of Shire infrastructure projects including roads, paths, drainage and landscaping to ensure quality outcomes for the community. This includes the preparation of design briefs, schedules and estimates for budget consideration, and the development of realistic project plans including detailed scope and schedule, in consultation with key stakeholders. You will also facilitate the application, administration and acquittal of grant funding for engineering projects, and procure and manage consultants and contractors.

As a team player you will use your initiative and excellent communication skills to build and maintain strong working relationships across the organisation and liaise professionally and effectively with customers, contractors and stakeholders to ensure the delivery of quality, timely and cost-effective project outcomes.

To be considered for this role you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of engineering project management practices for the development of municipal infrastructure, (Paths, Cycleway, Roads, culverts, landscaping & drainage etc.) 
  • Knowledge of engineering design / design review, construction techniques, materials, and equipment, in the development and delivery of municipal infrastructure
  • Knowledge and understanding of preliminary project planning processes (project briefs, clearing permits, Acid sulphate soils, funding applications, estimates and annual and long-term budgeting)
  • Good computer literacy to use a range of software applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and MS Project)
  • Current "C" class Western Australian drivers' licence

Experience in the application and administration of grant funding, Engineering and/or Project Management qualifications, and understanding of Traffic Management and Work, Health and Safety requirements will be highly regarded.
