7F is a thirty bed Neurology ward, with eight high dependency, monitored stroke beds. The Acute Stroke Unit receives patients directly from emergency that are ineligible for thrombolyis treatment, post transfer from Intensive Care after thrombolysis and thrombectomy interventions and conservative dissection management. The Neurology case-mix comprises of chronic neurological conditions (For example; Encephalopathies, Guillian Barre, Parkinson's Disease, Myasthenia Gravis, Multiple Sclerosis, Seizures and Mitochondrial Disease) requiring specialised Nursing care through enhanced assessment skills, infusions and medication management. 7F is a collaborative ward supported by our multidisciplinary team to ensure safe care and enhanced Patient outcomes. The ward also accommodates the inpatient rehabilitation programs designed to assist patients to go straight home as an alternative to a rehabilitation facility.

The purpose of this role is to provide safe and effective nursing care to patients using an individualised holistic approach related to the goals of care determined by the Primary Nurse (Registered Nurse) and within professional role limits and Enrolled Nurse Scope of Practice. In the delivery of nursing care the Enrolled Nurse will work under both the direct and indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse.
The Enrolled Nurse will consult with the registered nurse to ensure delegation is commensurate with own level of competence and within Local Health District (LHD) and Service policy, particularly in relation to the administration of medications.
