Where you'll be working:
Wallsend Aged Care Facility is located in Wallsend, a lively suburb of Newcastle close to a variety of shops and restaurants. The 98-bed facility is supported by a modern multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
About the opportunities:
Wallsend Aged Care Faciality is on the hunt for dedicated and compassionate Enrolled Nurses (ENs) and Assistant in Nursing (AINs) to join their team. Our successful candidates will provide personal care to the residents and over time building a rapport with the residents. Support will be provided through a 2 day orientation process followed by 2 supernumery days on the Unit. We have an extensive on-line mandatory education programme. They will also be support by the R.N.s, NUM, DON and the Educator.
Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Assist patients with personal care, mobility, and communication needs to support them in daily activities and functioning.
  • Provide nursing care within the scope of practice.
  • Assist nurses with routine technical support functions (including setting up for procedures and cleaning equipment).
  • Maintain accurate documentation in patient records.
  • Deliver continuity of safe patient/client care.
  • Use materials and equipment appropriately to best utilise finite resources.

Requirements:
  • Enrolled Nurse (Medication Endorsed where applicable) with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA or Certificate III Assistant in Nursing or currently enrolled in an undergraduate Registered Nursing degree (completion of first year and first semester or trimester of second year), or have equivalent experience.

Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport. Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable local candidate is identified for the position; in this instance, you may only be offered employment in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
