We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Enviro Fauna Spotter to join our team and play a vital role in ensuring the safety of wildlife during construction projects.
What You'll Do:
- promote, monitor, and review the performance of the company's environmental management system
- execute site targets to facilitate continuous improvement in environmental performance
- manage processes, procedures, and policies to execute client environmental performance
- assisting, preparing, and submitting or approval applications
- Conduct pre-construction surveys to identify fauna species present on project sites and compliance with client/environmental approval requirements
- Implement effective fauna relocation strategies using humane trapping and release techniques (in accordance with a Damage Mitigation Permit).
- Monitor construction activities for fauna activity and potential impacts.
- Liaise with construction crews to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permit conditions.
- Document fauna sightings and relocation activities, including maintaining accurate records and reports.
- Assist with the installation and maintenance of fauna exclusion fencing.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of fauna management awareness, inductions, and training programs for all personnel
- assisting with investigations and implementation of corrective actions relating to environmental incidents.
To be successful, you'll need:
Technical Skills:
- Minimum Certificate III in Wildlife Management or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Please note that a current QLD Damage Mitigation Permit (Removal and Relocation of Protected Animals) issued by the Department of Environment and Science (DES) is mandatory for this role.
- Strong understanding of Queensland fauna, particularly threatened and endangered species.
- Excellent knowledge of relevant environmental legislation and regulations.
- Experience in conducting pre-construction fauna surveys and fauna relocation techniques (preferred).
- Proficient in fauna identification skills, including both visual and auditory identification.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent observation and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional requirements:
- A current driver's license and white card
- First Aid Certificate
- Ability to work in a team environment and follow safety procedures
- Availability to start work in the next 2-4 weeks and pass a pre-employment medical.
- Roster: 18 days on, 10 days off (paid travel on day 1 and day 10 of RnR). Vehicle provided.
