Responsibilities:Downer is seeking an experienced Environment &
Sustainability Advisor to support our Power Projects (transmission lines) operations in Queensland. Reporting to the Environment & Sustainability Manager for Downer Utilities, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of successful projects in accordance with environmental legislative, client and Downer's requirements.The role will be operating on 3 weeks on-site and 1 week off FIFO/DIDO basis. This position would suit an Environmental Advisor with a demonstrated ability in the day-to-day management of on-site environmental aspects within a greenfield civil construction environment. Experience in major linear infrastructure projects and/or transmission lines will be highly sought after.
ABOUT THE ROLE- Lead environmental performance and compliance for the project.
- Work with the project team to drive positive environmental outcomes.
- Communicate environmental requirements of the project to site teams.
- Review, update and monitor compliance with project environmental management plans.
- Ensure compliance with relevant statutory approvals and legislative requirements.
- Conduct ongoing risk management and hazard identification processes.
- Conduct environmental inspections.
- Conduct audits and follow up upon actions as a result of audits and inspections.
- Coordinate incident investigations and produce environmental bulletins and alerts.
- Work alongside an Environment & Sustainability Graduate.
ABOUT YOU- Bachelor's degree in environmental management, environmental sciences or equivalent.
- Experience in construction environmental management. Transmission line or linear infrastructure experience highly sought after.
- Knowledge of erosion & sediment control (CPESC not required).
- Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation.
- Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems.
- Well-developed verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills including consultative communications skills.
- Report writing and data analysis skills.
- Organising and planning skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
