We design and deliver projects in the Water, Bridges, Transport, Underground, Energy and Remediation industry sectors. Projects include dams, bridges, tunnels, water and wastewater treatment process facilities, rail infrastructure, mining infrastructure, electrical substations, marine works and pipeline rehabilitation: the complex infrastructure needed to build better communities.
About the role
It is an exciting time in the Environment and Sustainability team at Abergeldie, as we are expanding our function and are looking for a new Environmental Advisor to support all water, infrastructure and rail projects predominantly in Sydney and Greater Sydney.
Day to day you will be responsible for supporting multiple project teams to develop and implement management plans, environmental controls and strategies on site to ensure compliance to all project approvals and regulatory requirements. You will also support the project team with client stakeholder engagement on environmental aspects of the project. Day to day you will;
- Ensure compliance with Abergeldie's environmental management system.
- Develop, support and review Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP), Environmental Risk Assessments (ERA) and Project Sustainability Management Plans .
- Obtain necessary approvals for environmental permits and access of works.
- Ensure environmental legal compliance and that environmental and sustainability targets are met.
- Conduct risk assessments, inspections, and audits and investigate incidents.
- Manage environmental and sustainability reporting, including monthly project reports. Auditing and inspections where required
- Reviewing environmental approvals for pre-contracts
- Subplans development and organizing specialist consultants, where required
- Monitoring on site and liaising with specialist consultants
- Representing environmental team and consistency across ACT & Southern NSW projects, awareness, training, toolboxes
About you
Our ideal candidate will be well established in their Environmental career, with strong experience working within the civil construction industry; and
- Have relevant tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or related discipline
- Have demonstrated experience managing technical environmental controls, plans, approval conditions, and regulatory requirements
- Have a track record of success in developing, supporting, and implementing Environmental Management Plans, Risk Assessments, and Sustainability Management Plans within the construction sector
- Have practical experience working with ISO 14001
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to achieve project goals
