About our role
Northern Star has a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an Environmental Advisor to assist with the integration of environmental factors into all site planning and operational decisions and processes, ensuring compliance with all relevant environmental legislation, approvals, licenses and permits at our world-class Carosue Dam Operations. This opportunity is offered as FIFO from Perth, or BIBO from Kalgoorlie on an 8:6 roster.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Ensuring awareness of Northern Star's environmental and heritage responsibilities and assist in developing processes and procedures to deal with environmental requirements
Assisting with compilation and submission of Environmental Compliance Reports and project approvals as required by legislation
Assisting with investigations relating to significant environmental incidents
Assisting in updating and implementation of the EMS and supporting policies and procedures
Conducting audits and inspection of operational areas, ensuring compliance with licence requirements
Assisting with progressing toward mine closure to industry best practise acceptable by regulatory bodies and key stakeholders
Participating actively in the roll out and implementation of environmental plans
Delivering environmental training packages and site inductions
Maintaining up to date understanding of environmental regulation and best practice
Consulting and liaising with regulatory authorities as directed
Assisting with project work
Required skills and experience:
Tertiary Qualification in Environmental Science or related field
Minimum 2 years' experience in an environmental monitoring role
Experience with data systems and databases
Sound knowledge of safety and environmental systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Genuine passion for the Australian environment
Excellent interpersonal skills across all levels of the organisation
Sound planning and organisational abilities
Competency with Microsoft Office suite and ArcGIS software
Basic understanding of fauna handling
