Environmental Advisor working for a centrally located government department on a 6-month contract

Hays is working with a centrally located government department that is looking for an Environmental Advisor to join their Environmental team.
Your new role
This position will report to the Environmental Manager and you will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Provide professional technical advice and support on environmental matters consistent with the environmental legislation, obligations and management systems during the delivery of major projects.
- Undertake regular reviews of the companies' compliance, including conducting site inspections and audits
- Preparing the scope of work for the engagement of environmental and aboriginal heritage consultants in accordance with the companies' procurement guidelines
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
What you'll need to succeed
Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or related disciplines
Knowledge and understanding of environmental legislation and its application to the delivery of major transport and infrastructure projects
Demonstrated experience in engaging and managing environmental and aboriginal heritage consultants
Knowledge and experience with a broad range of environmental issues such as contaminated sites, groundwater management, revegatation, aboriginal heritage, asbestos and noise and vibrations
