The Role
Take charge of coordinating Environmental Approvals for De Grey mining. We are seeking a skilled Environmental Approvals Advisor to join our team. Reporting to the Principal Environment Approvals, you will play a key role in ensuring our operations meet environmental approval requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop state and local Government approval documentation in parallel with Primary Approvals.
- Create schedules for Government approvals to provide greater transparency to the business.
- Manage timelines for delivery of approvals to meet operational requirements.
- Provide strategic advice to the business in design stages to ensure approval documentation can meet regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with regulators and other stakeholders to ensure approval development considers internal and external requirements.
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of environmental legislation and approval requirements, including but not limited to:
- Works Approval Applications under Part VI of the Environmental Protection Act 1986.
- Licences required under Part VI of the Environmental Protection Act 1986.
- Mining Proposal and Mine Closure Plan required under the Mining Act 1978.
- Programs of Works required under the Mining Act 1978.
- Groundwater Licences required under the Rights in Water and Irrigation Act 1912.
- Section 40 Applications required under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016.
- Clearing permits required under the Native Vegetation Clearing Regulations under the Environmental Protection Act 1986.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Tertiary Qualified in Environmental Science (or equivalent).
- Minimum 8+ years in an Environmental Advisor Role (with at least 3 years site/resource-based experience).
- Proven track record in managing Environmental Approvals, actively engaging with local and State Regulators.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully and autonomously within a fast-paced project environment and deliver on deadlines.
- Hold proven verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with an ability to develop and maintain relationships across diverse stakeholders.
- Lateral thinker with the ability to critically interrogate information and interpret technical reports.
- C Class Drivers License.
