Are you an experienced Environmental Leader looking for the next step in your career? Our client is a leading Mining Operator based in Perth, with a long history of successful operation. They are seeking a skilled Environmental Approvals Superintendent to join their team. This exciting role is Perth based on an initial 12 month Fixed Term contract with the possibly of extension.
As a Environmental Approvals Superintendent, you will play a crucial role in ensuring environmental management and compliance are met. Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop and manage the State and Federal Environmental Approvals strategy and processes.
- Oversee and provide guidance to the Environmental Advisors in the preparation and quality control of environmental approval documentation.
- Manage the activities and quality control the deliverables of external consultants undertaking environmental investigations, impact assessments and developing environmental submissions.
- Identify key environmental issues that pose a risk to obtaining Environmental Approvals and develop options to resolve these risks and advise Manager Environment and Approvals and other Managers as relevant.
- Liaise and consult with regulators, internal/external stakeholders and the community, as required during the process of obtaining Environmental Approvals.
- Champion Environmental Approvals across the business.
- Review environmental management plans and make recommendations for submission to Manager Environment and Approvals.
- Liaise with project teams and contractors with respect to Environmental Approvals requirements.
- Provide Manager Environment and Approvals current information relating to Environmental Approvals progress.
- Support environmental compliance aspects as required.
- Contribute to productivity and budget targets
- Lead and manage approvals team
- Develop standard approval templates, reports and other written material.
- Communicate approval requirements to responsible officers and managers.
- Escalate to Manager Environment any approval issues that may impact on business operations.
- Minimum 10 years relevant post graduate experience and exposure to resources operations
- A comprehensive and demonstrable understanding of State and Commonwealth environmental approval legislation
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead teams
- Experience in Environmental Approvals of major resource projects
- Experience in environmental management of major resource projects
- Environmental Auditor qualifications (Desirable)
