About the role
Our Risk and Compliance team is currently seeking a Superintendent Environmental Approvals to join them based in Perth. Reporting to the Manager Environment and Approvals, you will understand, manage, and secure Environmental Approvals critical to our Roy Hill operations and future projects.
Duties
- Develop and oversee the Environmental Approvals process for Roy Hill, ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements
- Review and interpretation of regulatory changes and disseminate of potential business impacts.
- Provide guidance to the environmental advisors in the preparation and quality control of environmental approval documentation
- Ensure effective use of external consultants for environmental assessments and investigations
- Proactively identify and address environmental risks, provide expert advice to management, and engage with regulators, stakeholders, and the community to secure necessary approvals
- Review environmental management plans and update the Manager Environment and Approvals on progress of Environmental Approvals
Skills and experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or a related discipline
- Substantial post graduate experience including experience in Environmental Approvals and management for major resources projects and operations
- Mentoring and supervisory experience and a passion for building capability within a team
- Comprehensive understanding of state and commonwealth environmental approval legislation and proposed changes
- High level report writing skills and experience with electronic environmental databases
- Understanding of compliance management and auditing systems and environmental auditor qualifications will be beneficial
