About the team

Network Operations is responsible for the monitoring, operation and management of all assets associated with the sewerage, potable water and recycled water networks as well as associated plant and equipment on the Gold Coast. 

We are pivotal in overseeing planned and reactive network outages along with continual improvement investigations to minimise customer impacts in providing safe drinking water supplies, recycled water supplies and sewerage collection. 

About your new role

You will lead a team of Network Operators, who:

  • oversee the operation and continual improvement of the Sewerage Network (500+ sewerage pump stations and 3,500km of sewerage mains
  • coordinate shutdowns required for maintenance, renewals, refurbishments, and connects/disconnections
  • analyse operational data for proactive intervention
  • coordinate and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to deliver minor and major capital projects
  • develop operational procedures
  • audit current assets to ensure an accurate GIS.
  • As a leader in the broader Network Operations Team, you will:

  • oversee the operation of all other networks as required (current and future)
  • partake in an on-call roster
  • ensure regulatory requirements are met (environmental/water quality)
  • undertake investigation and root cause analysis
  • provision of problem-solving and decision-making/expert advice.
  • We're looking for people who have:

  • Self-motivated leadership skills and reliability
  • Experience in leading teams in a continuous operational process
  • Knowledge and experience in the water and sewerage industry along with SCADA control systems would be an advantage
  • Experience in operational data analytics, configuring and interpreting OSiPi, SAP, BI or similar
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, with experience interacting with the public, internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritise problems, think laterally, gather, and analyse information to identify symptoms and causes, and engage the correct people to deliver the appropriate service to the residents of the City
  • Ability to work under pressure to determine the best course of action when assets fail, or customers report problems
  • High quality of service delivery to internal and external customers and reacts responsively to customer expectations.
