The Role
Join our Regulatory Services team to deliver high quality and efficient environmental and public health services within the Town of Cambridge.
As the successful applicant you'll provide advice to the community, developers and staff, conduct inspections and licensing of food businesses, and ensure regulatory compliance.
This role involves being challenged with a variety of tasks including but not limited to, investigating and resolving nuisances and noise complaints, managing pest control inspections, processing septic tank and grey water applications, and handling settlement inquiries related to Environmental Health. Additionally, you'll promote awareness of environmental and public health issues within the community.
Previous experience working as an Environmental Health Officer is desirable however not essential, our dynamic work environment provides the opportunity to grow within a supportive environment and enhance your skills.
This role is responsible for providing an efficient and effective environmental and public health service to the community and residents that aligns with the Town’s core values of Respect, Friendly and Helpful, Teamwork, Integrity and Creativity.
The successful candidate will mirror the abovementioned values and demonstrate:
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge of statutory provisions relating to Environmental Health and public health
- Previous experience working as an Environmental Health Officer is desirable.
- Experience assisting in policy and program development and demonstrate good research and evaluation skills to identify program solutions
- Work specific knowledge in the provision of Environmental Health services
- Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders and influence to gain cooperation and support
- Good planning/organisational and teamwork skills including demonstrated ability to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines
Eligibility
- Australian working rights (birth certificate, current passport, or current visa).
- Current Australian Drivers Licence
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health or a similar qualification deemed acceptable to the Chief Health Officer.
- Authorisation as an Authorised Person and Inspector under the Environmental Protection Act 1986 is essential.
