Environmental Health Officer – COOTAMUNDRA (Full time)

Applications are invited from interested persons for the above full-time position of Environmental Health Officer to be based at our Cootamundra Office.
This position is responsible for the administration of all statutory obligations of the Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council pursuant to the Local Government Act, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Protection of the Environment Operations Act, Public Health Act, Food Act and Council’s policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Ensures the relevant statutes, Council objectives and policies are satisfied and enforced when performing inspections and evaluating other matters associated with environmental and public health regulation and compliance.
2. Ensures public compliance with the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act, Food Act, Public Health Act, Impounding Act, Protection of the Environment Operations Act, Local Government Act.
3. Research, analyse and interpret relevant legislation, codes, policies, procedures and apply them in a practical context.
4. Ensure customer enquiries and complaint management are handled professionally, in a courteous and efficient manner at all times.
5. Undertake all Environmental Health functions appropriate to level of experience and qualifications.
6. Undertake food complaints investigation and premises inspections and other health-related regulatory activities as required by Council.
7. Maintain a current knowledge of industry developments, practice and statutory responsibilities.

This position provides professional services and advice to a wide range of customers in relation to development control, land use and compliance matters in accordance with environmental and land use planning legislation.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Ensure efficient and timely determination of development application.
2. Prepare assessment reports for presentation to management, Council and Joint Regional Planning Panel as necessary.
3. Make recommendations for system improvements in order to achieve key position objectives.
4. Provide responses to planning, development and land use enquiries in a professional, timely manner.

RE-ADVERTISMENT –  PLANT OPERATOR – GRADER / TECHNICAL TEAM LEADER – COOTAMUNDRA

Applications are now invited from interested persons for the above Full time position of Plant Operator – Grader / Technical Team Leader to be based at our Cootamundra Depot.

This role is required to operate a Grader to undertake Council works as directed by the Works Supervisor and contribute to the manual labour pool with the Operations function.  This role is also required to provide guidance, instruction and direction for the purpose of achieving a key result for Council.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Ensure that all plant is operated effectively and efficiently to achieve Council’s goals and objectives.
2. Ensure plant is operated safely when working in the proximity of overhead or underground utility services.
3. Ensure that the civil works crew are operating and maintaining plant effectively and efficiently to achieve Council’s goals and objectives.
4. Ensure that civil works crew are operating plant in a safe manner and following safe work method statement’s and manufacturer’s instructions.
5. Ensure all Safe Work practices are followed including traffic control signage is appropriately positioned.
6. Knowledge and understanding of capabilities of all civil plant and construction techniques.
7. Ensure all appropriate records / forms / sheets are filled in correctly and / or electronic records data has been completely entered.

• Salary range of $1,228.69 – $1,437.50 gross per week

This position is to assist and contribute in a team of labourers, drivers and plant operators to complete scheduled Council works tasks, specifically being concrete and drainage works.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist in target objectives of Council to the work team and promote teamwork.
2. Ensure work is conducted safely and completed to required standards.
3. Ensure the effective use of labour, plant and tools and that resources are maintained routinely.
4. Identify improvements to work methods and procedures and make recommendations to work supervisors.

Ensure Council resources are operated in accordance with WHS requirements and standards.

REVENUE ASSISANT – (Full time)

This is a professional role in local government rating, property and revenue collection services. This role supports the efficient and effective rates, property and revenue collection services for Council, and provides support to ensure Council’s property records are up to date and accurate.

Key responsibilities include: 

1. Manage Water billing function
2. Provide back up to the Accounts receivable functions
3. Support the operation of Council’s rates and property functions in accordance with established procedures, policies and legislative requirements.
4. Assist with the accurate and timely maintenance of the rates and property system.
5. Assist with the collection of all Council revenue from rates and annual charges.
6. Responded to queries in a timely and professional manner.
7. Assist with the preparation of statutory returns, as they relate to the rating system, in an accurate and timely manner.
