Our client is an Australian-owned mining company with site operations in the Hunter Valley. They are a pioneer for responsible resource development and own and operate a range of projects. One such project is an underground coal mine based in the Hunter Valley, with a strong life of mine and annual production targets in place.
The Opportunity
Due to leave coverage, our client is looking for an Environmental Lead/Advisor to join the team on a contract basis to manage a range of environmental programs/projects to uphold the sites environmental commitments, compliance and risk.
The contract will look to go for 6 months in length, Monday-Friday based at their Muswellbrook site, with a guarantee of 40 hours per week and be on an attractive hourly rate arrangement.
What you could be responsible for:
- Support site operations by seeking and implementing opportunities that will improve environmental performance
- Monitor existing environmental programs currently in place
- Complete audits and inspections of operations to ensure there is compliance to legislative and license requirements
- Lead the compilation and submission of environmental compliance reports and environmental approval applications
- Engage with a range of stakeholders including regulatory bodies, internal teams and community in regard to environmental matters.
What you will bring:
- Formal qualification in environment science, environmental management, environmental engineering or equivalent.
- Understanding of relevant legislation and compliance requirements including standards and codes of practice
- Mining industry experience (preferable coal) within Australia is desirable
- Willingness to support and coach other team members as required
- Comfort engaging with various key business stakeholders.
