Our services help clients anticipate and manage the environmental impact at each stage of the project: planning and obtaining permits for new facilities; decommissioning, clean-up and closure of contaminates sites and surplus operations facilities; restoration for reuse; addressing critical climate – change issues; protection or restoration of habitats and water quality and the preservation of culture resource.

We are inviting applications from Environmental Geoscientists/Scientists/Engineers/Geologists to join our growing global team of industry experts. Based in Brisbane, this is an exceptional opportunity to grow your career, while learning from the best in the industry.

As an Environmental / Contaminated Land Consultant, you will join our Geosciences and Remediation Services (GRS) team, which is part of the broader environment team at AECOM. The role involves working on challenging projects in a range of sectors, with a mix of fieldwork and supporting office work. You will be given the opportunity to work on remote client sites, collaborating with internal teams and subcontractors and clients.

  • Gain experience in all aspects of project management and the opportunity to join a structured internal project manager certification program.

What will a day in this role look like:

  • Planning, co-ordination and supervision of site works – examples include surface and groundwater monitoring programs, contaminated land investigations and assessments, groundwater bore assessments.
  • Management of health and safety for site works.
  • Completion of short, medium and / or long term site programs in SEQ and occasionally working interstate to support the national GRS team as opportunities arise.
  • Collection, handling and management of environmental samples from a range of media and responsible for sample quality.
  • Environmental data management and interpretation.
  • Technical report writing and contribution – examples include SAQPs, GME and ESA reports and groundwater bore assessment reports.
  • Assisting with project management, including management of safety, quality, excellence and commercial delivery items.

What are we looking for from you?

We are looking for candidates with energy and enthusiasm who enjoy working collaboratively with a great team of people to provide solutions to our clients.

Some of the key skills and experiences you will need to be successful in the role are:

  • A relevant technical qualification in environmental geoscience, science, engineering or geology. 
  • 2+ years’ experience in environmental / contaminated land or related disciplines.
  • Flexibility to complete a wide range of site programs, with dedication to site safety.
  • Confident around the engagement and management of subcontractors.
  • Providing high quality data management using industry standard tools.
  • Providing project and proposal management and support.
  • A driver’s licence is essential for the role.
  • Ability to obtain Defence security clearance preferable.
