Position Overview:
We are currently undertaking Expression of Interest applications for Process Safety Leads who are interested in future opportunities located in Brisbane and Melbourne. As the Process Safety Lead you are responsible for overseeing and managing the Process Safety aspects within the project. The primary focus of this role is to ensure the safe design, operation, and maintenance of processes and facilities to prevent accidents and protect personnel, the environment, and assets.
Key Responsibilities:
Risk Assessment and Hazard Analysis:
Conduct and lead process hazard analyses (PHA), hazard and operability studies (HAZOP), and other risk assessments to identify and evaluate potential hazards.
Implement risk reduction measures and recommend process modifications to enhance safety.
Compliance Management:
Stay abreast of relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
Develop and maintain safety management systems to meet regulatory requirements.
Process Safety Management (PSM):
Manage and improve the organization's Process Safety Management program.
Develop, implement, and review PSM elements, including Process Safety information, process hazard analysis, management of change, incident investigation, and emergency response.
Safety Culture and Training:
Promote a strong safety culture within the organization.
Develop and deliver Process Safety training programs for employees.
Incident Investigation:
Lead investigations into process-related incidents or near misses to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
Develop corrective actions to address identified issues.
Emergency Response Planning:
Develop and maintain emergency response plans for process-related incidents.
Conduct drills and training exercises to ensure the effectiveness of emergency response procedures.
Engineering Support:
Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure that Process Safety principles are integrated into the design and modification of facilities and processes.
Review and approve process design documents.
Continuous Improvement:
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance Process Safety performance.
Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to Process Safety.
Key Skills & Experience:
Bachelor's or advanced degree in chemical engineering, process engineering, or a related field.
Significant experience in Process Safety roles within oil and gas projects.
Proven track record of leading process hazard analyses and implementing Process Safety improvements.
In-depth understanding of relevant safety regulations and industry standards.
Familiarity with Process Safety management systems.
Strong communication skills to effectively convey complex safety concepts to diverse audiences.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive a culture of safety throughout the organization.
