About the Role.
The ER Specialist / ER Lawyer role supports the site network and provides advice on employee relations matters and supports the management grievances in a manner consistent with operational and commercial objectives, and in alignment with Bunnings’ organisational culture.
Led by the People Advisory Manager, this 9 month parental leave contract role will ensure compliance with all employment related State and Federal legislation in AU and NZ and utilise data to identify trends that inform the Centres of Excellence and regional People & Culture teams.
This role will join an existing People Advisory Lawyer and a recently created centralised People Advisory team where the people matters come in high volumes, an individual who enjoys a fast paced and evolving environment will complement the existing team.
What's involved.
Ensure all people grievances are dealt with in a timely manner that protects Bunnings and minimises business disruption
Assist and coach regional people teams and people advisors to deal with employee relations matters
Support investigations and provide recommendations to stakeholders
Represent Bunnings in employment related jurisdictions
Educate, coach and train leaders & team members on their obligations and responsibilities with regards to equal opportunity, performance management, investigations, EA/CEA interpretation and application
Prepare documentation for relevant courts, tribunals, and commissions
Provide advice on employment law and related matters
Engage in commercial decision making that minimises risk to the Bunnings brand
Support people projects and other initiatives across the wider people team
Provide advice to stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant legislative requirements
Ensure accurate record keeping and confidentiality of people documentation and case files
Maintain accurate people management systems
Support in the maintenance of relevant policies and procedures
Responsible for drafting and maintaining People templates.
Who we’re looking for.
Our ideal candidate will have experience within a similar capacity with an understanding of relevant industrial and employment legislation and knowledge of workplace policies.
An individual with a natural flair in coaching, influencing and negotiation that is able to build relationships with various stakeholders along with the confidence in translating technical and complex information concisely to diverse audiences will have success in this role.
You’ll need:
Tertiary Qualification in Law, Industrial Relations, HR or related discipline
Proven experience (within a law firm, in-house or professional services) as an Employment Lawyer, ER Specialist or Legal Advisor, ideally in the retail or FMCG industry
Understanding of and ability to interpret relevant industrial instruments
Exposure in Grievance and dispute resolution
High level problem solving, decision making and Interpersonal skills.
