Job description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and accurate advice to managers and employees on a variety of employee relations matters, including performance management, disciplinary actions, grievances, and disputes.
  • Conduct investigations into workplace complaints and grievances, ensuring procedural fairness and adherence to relevant policies and legislation.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote positive employee relations and enhance workplace culture.
  • Collaborate with HR business partners and other stakeholders to develop and implement policies, procedures, and programs that support employee engagement and well-being.
  • Represent the organisation in meetings and negotiations with union representatives, fostering constructive relationships and achieving mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Keep abreast of legislative changes and industry best practices in employee relations, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to employee relations activities and outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualification in Human Resources Management, Employment Relations, Law, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working as an Employee Relations Consultant or in a similar role, preferably within a local government or public sector environment.
  • Sound knowledge of employment law, industrial relations frameworks, and relevant legislation.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
