Estimator & Planner

Here at Openbook Howden, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a hardworking and creative Estimator to join our team and deliver world class design solutions to our valued OBH Print and OBH Label clients.

We are currently looking for a numerically, tech savvy professional with strong attention to detail and initiative to help deliver outstanding results for our valued clients. Accuracy, collaboration, and high attention to detail are vital to succeeding in this role, as is a genuine passion for learning.

The Position:

The role will include but is not limited to the following:

• Utilise the company MIS system to generate quotes, estimates and plan jobs 
• Proactively provide quotations based on the information provided by our Sales Representatives, and provide recommendations for improved pricing where appropriate
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure priorities are met in order to provide a timely and high-quality service to the client
• Build relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers etc.)
• Research, source and negotiate the best pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Ensure all input costs in the MIS system are current and accurate.
• Adjust and set new machinery where instructed in the MIS system
• Ensure that materials required for jobs are ordered in a timely manner
• Work independently as well as cooperatively to meet deadlines, stay within budget, and schedule project timelines based on workload, which can include multiple simultaneous projects

We are looking for an experienced candidate who has:

• Experience in a similar role and/or relevant skills to the role
• Printed label sales experience highly regarded.
• The ideal candidate will have a previous experience in project management or estimation.
• High attention to detail, eagerness to learn and develop personal and career-centric skills.
• Good communication skills are a must.
• Formal/tertiary qualifications with experience in estimating and/or labels are an advantage.
• Knowledge of printing processes is an advantage, but not essential.
• Proven ability in accepting direction and completing assigned work accurately and on time with attention to detail.
• Interest in best practice production methods, innovative development and print.
