About the role:
This is a fantastic opportunity to join the largest Premium Hotel in Australia, and be part of one of our busiest teams, where no two days are the same!
As the Events Assistant Manager, you will report directly to the Director of Events. You will be responsible for overseeing the operation of our events, as well as the day-to-day leadership and supervision of associates working in the department, ensuring that a high level of service is always maintained.
Responsibilities include:
- Run the functions with full responsibility from start to finish
- Co-ordination of all aspects of the department’s operation ensuring that the services are delivered to guests with the aim of exceeding expectations in accordance with Hyatt Regency standards and procedures. This involves responding to event enquiries, costs for room and equipment hire and catering
- Day to day leadership, supervision and management of associates working in the department to foster an open and supportive work environment
- Promote event spaces to potential customers, discuss their needs and outline package options to meet their requirements
- Organise the registration of participants
- Negotiate the type and costs of services to be provided within the client’s budget
- Oversee the work of agency staff and report on variations to work orders
Our ideal candidate must possess:
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- Minimum three years relevant experience in a similar role
- Experience in a 5-star environment, either a large hotel or convention centre in a similar supervisory or leadership role within a fast-paced environment
- Proven leadership abilities creating environments where associates can have fun, take pride in their work and reach their potential
- Strong communication verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to handle complaints
- Full Australian Working Rights
- Effective customer service skills and ability to think outside the box
- Availability across 7 days and willing to work a rotating roster
- A current valid RSA card

- Should sponsorship be required, it will be provided through EP2 Management Ltd, the owning company of the Hyatt Regency Sydney.
