The Employee Communications & Events team supports the Optus Australia business. We work up, down and across the company’s corporate, customer, sales, products, networks, fixed, wholesale and satellite divisions. We communicate our business strategy and help our people understand the role they play in bringing it to life.
 
The Executive, Employee Events supports the Associate Director, Employee Events with the delivery of engaging strategic events and activities that support Optus’ most visible and important employee initiatives, actively contributing towards making Optus the right place for the best people to do their best work.
 
You will be working on strategic events on Campus and other Optus locations, from creating a program of engaging and inspiring strategic events to the management of events (both virtual and physical), activations, promotions, logistics, event run orders, work health and safety checks, budgets, and agency management. These range from our Optus Presents and Innovation Mindset speaker series events, Optus U Day campus events, strategic campus events, weekly award winning TGIF broadcast, EOY celebrations and Powered x Live.
 
Your day in the life at Optus

-Support the AD, Employee Events to deliver strategic event projects for our CEO, and senior leaders;
-Contribute to the planning and design of outstanding event experiences that meet stakeholder objectives and make Optus the right place for the best people to do their best work;
-Work as part of the Employee Communications & Events team to deliver events that support Optus’ business strategy;
-Develop relationships with Optus’ approved event agencies and suppliers - partner with them on key internal events;
-Ensure that all events meet Optus, landlord and legally required WHS standards and manage risks and contingencies in line with relevant Optus policies (including COVID policy where applicable);
-Establish and maintain appropriate and effective event documentation (run sheets, timelines, budgets etc.) to ensure timely and accurate records;
-Maintain a network across Optus and when required manage teams of volunteers to deliver events;
-Measure the effectiveness of event projects including delivery on time, on budget and employee engagement; &
-Maintain Employee events calendar and be prepared to work outside core working hours where required to manage an event.
Your skills to pay the bills
 
It’s a fast-paced place with lots happening, so we’re looking for someone who’s up for a challenge and is passionate about Corporate Events. You’ll need a can-do attitude and lots of energy!
You’ll need to be an excellent organiser, a problem solver, good at working on multiple projects at once, calm under pressure, great attention to detail and have a good sense of how a business operates and have good written and verbal communication skills. To be successful, you'll be coming from a similar role and background to date.
