As the Executive Director, Landscapes, Water and Natural Capital, you will provide leadership for the development of conservation strategy, policy, and program initiatives aligning with the Government's portfolio priorities. Your role involves overall management of the branch to ensure the Department contributes to Queensland's conservation legislative framework, associated policy, and implementation.
The Landscapes, Water and Natural Capital Branch leads catchment resilience policy and programs, Water and wetlands initiatives, and environmental markets and investment strategy. The program of work includes developing the state's strategic approach to Natural Capital markets and frameworks for private investment in Queensland's environmental priorities. This involves investor engagement and support to programs across the Department's portfolio with co-investment proposals.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership for the development and delivery of policy initiatives.
- Represent the department effectively in high-level negotiations, consultations, and liaisons with senior executives, other government departments, and stakeholders.
- Cultivate constructive working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external to the state government.
- Lead the timely preparation of major reports, briefings, submissions, and correspondence for the Minister, the Director-General, and others on complex natural resource and conservation management issues.
- Provide expert strategic advice, information, and support to the Minister, Ministerial Advisors, and the Director-General on significant programs, projects, and strategic policy-related issues.
- Demonstrate leadership of a high-performing team, overseeing an operating budget of $4.3M, responsible for administering multi-year investment funds and grants programs totalling over $600M.
- Foster a workplace culture that actively supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and engage through work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.
